Dbanj

The last year was a good year for D’banj earning himself awards and lots of money as well from shows and events all over the world. This year was also the year he parted ways with Mo’hits record and his friend and business partner Don Jazzy. His Hit Single Oliver twist was the most popular Nigerian Hit of 2012.










Tonto Dike

Although not a successful Musician Tonto Dike made history by producing a sub par hit single. “Hi” from her album it’s ova made her even more popular than she ever was earning her a lot of invites as special guest to events across Nigeria. Tonto also made a few other controversial stunts like displaying her back tattoos and claiming to have lost her virginity to Don jazzy and a few other controversial albeit maverick stunts in 2012.

The Okoye twins lost their mother this year, a low point for the brothers but as usual recorded a successful studio album release. They had several massive hit singles featuring Rick Ross and Akon plus several top class international invites to perform at shows.







Burna Boy

Here is an example of how a hit wonder can transform a relatively unknown music act into a superstar almost over night. Burna Boy is now a household name charging mouth watery fees to perform at shows across Nigeria. No one saw him coming but today he’s well known.





Wizkid

EME’s Ayo Balogun aka Wizkid is the best example of raw talent getting better and better. In 2012 working with Tiwa Savage, Davido and numerous other artistes Wizkid is today one of Nigeria’s highest earning performers as he’s highly sought after to perform at events. The year 2012 turned out to be a very rewarding year for Wizkid making him the 2nd most influential Nigerian artist on Twitter a position that reflects his growing popularity.
